About Allahabad Bank

Allahabad Bank is an Indian nationalized bank formed by a group of Europeans on 24 April 1865 in Allahabad with its present headquarters in Kolkata, India. After the establishment the acquisition of the bank shifted from P & O Banking Corporation in 1920 and to Chartered Bank in 1927 and it also started its operations in Rangoon in the beginning of 20th century. The Indian Government nationalized Allahabad Bank along with other 14 banks on 19 July 1969. It acquired United Industrial Bank, a Calcutta-based bank and its 145 branches and later established All Bank Finance Ltd which is a Merchant Banking subsidiary. It has 3,071 branches all over India and a branch in Hong Kong and a representative office in Shenzhen. The bank’s market capitalization in May 2013 was 1.28 billion US Dollars and ranked #1466 on the Forbes Global 2000 list.

Awards/Achievements/Accolades
In July 2005, Allahabad bank moved up by 169 notches to rank 681st among top 1000 world banks. During the same financial year the bank received an award of recognition from honorable Union Finance Minister for excellence in lending to agricultural sector. It was ranked 14th among the 60 Indian banks and 6th among nationalized banks. Allahabad bank’s CD programme has received the highest rating of P1+ both from CRISIL and CARE.
